Meet Our Staff

My name is Roxanne Plischke and I was a proud owner of R&S Out of School Care. My 32+ years working at my centre has been an absolute joy filled with unforgettable memories with the children, parents and my team.

Accomplishments:
• Antarctica Expedition (2019): Completed my lifelong goal of having visited all 7 continents.
• Children's Book Author (2022): Wrote “And they can mend a broken heart”, focusing on how children's pure love and energy can help heal us in times of grief.

Hello! My name is Arscent, and I am a proud graduate of the Child and Youth Care program at Grant MacEwan University. I moved to Canada from the Philippines in 2019. Since then, I have been fortunate to work with R&S, where I’ve applied my education and grown my skills in child and youth care. This role has allowed me to connect deeply with my field, reinforcing my commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of children.

Hello! My name is Trissha. I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to Canada in 2011. I speak Tagalog, English, and a bit of Korean. I enjoy singing and dancing, cooking and baking, watching movies and TV series, and playing badminton.

I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with the goal of becoming a psychologist. Since beginning my work as an Early Childhood Educator in 2023, I have been passionate about supporting children’s emotional and social well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. I am honored to continue growing and developing these passions at R&S.

Hi everyone! My name is Oksana. I am from Ukraine, and I immigrated to Canada in November 2012 with my family. I am a happy mother and grandmother who has two children and two grandchildren. In Ukraine, I completed Pedagogical College and after that, I completed National Pedagogical University.

I worked as a teacher in primary and secondary school for a long time in Ukraine. Soon, it will be 8 years since I’ve started working at R&S. This is my 2nd home that I always want to come back to. It is such a great environment and positive atmosphere. I enjoy working with children because they represent hope and the future to me. I really admire children’s energy, honesty, creativity, flexibility and resilience.

My name is Sahar. I am from Iran and I lived in Turkey for 5 years with my family before coming here to Canada. I love children. I get energy from being with them. I believe their early years are necessary to nurture children’s love of learning and foster their overall well-being. I wish children’s world were full of joy, play, understanding, and peace.

Hello! My name is Aicha and I have now been working at R&S for almost 6 years. I am currently in my third year of bilingual nursing school at the University of Alberta. When I’m not studying you’ll find me spending time with friends, travelling, cozied up with a nice movie or here at R&S! R&S has become a second home to me since the day I started, this centre radiates love and good energy. I wouldn’t know where I’d be without R&S and Roxy.

My name is Gabriel Bedford. I am the grandson of Rox and son of Carla, Roxy’s daughter. My mom worked at R&S while going to university and now I’m the same. I am in my first year of university and my goal is to become a high school English teacher.

I have worked part time at R&S since I was 16 and I have to say, working with the kids is a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

My name is Faridah and I am from Iran. I graduated from a university in Iran in the field of Mathematics. I came to Canada two years ago. I have a 16 year old son. I love children very much. I enjoy working, taking care of them and talking to them as they are so loving kind and honest. I am very happy to work with children here at R&S.
